Earache is a common problem, particularly in children. One of the  most common ear infection is known as acute otitis media (AOM), or a middle ear infection. It is famous by its swollen and infected portions of the middle ear. Likewise, symptoms may include a pain inside the ear, slight hearing loss, fever or feeling sick in general. It is important to know that babies and children may be restless and pull at their ears.

1. Hydrogen Peroxide

You should only soak a cotton ball and use it to squeeze a few drops into the ear. Namely, this will work to dislodge debris, so gently irrigating the area afterward with warm water to flush the debris clear may be helpful as well.

2. Basil

Basil is very healthy not only because of its antibacterial properties but of its anti-inflammatory properties as well. Therefore, if you want to use basil for your ear, crush some basil leaves and extract its juice. Then,  put at least 2 drops of it into the infected ear to get relief from earache immediately.

6. Garlic

Remember that the analgesic and antibiotic properties of garlic are very helpful since they can reduce earache caused by an ear infection. First heat one teaspoon of minced garlic in two tablespoons of oil (olive oil or sesame seed oil are most common). Then cool and filter the oil and put 2-3 drops of this garlic oil in the aching ear.

7. Onion

There are many ways of how to use onion. For instance, some people simply cut an onion in half and place it over the affected ear while others gently heat a small portion of the onion until warm but not soft. Moreover, some people wrap the onion in a warm, moist cloth, while others use it directly on the ear. However, another option is to squeeze out some onion juice, heat gently, and put a few drops into the ear. Note that the recommended compress time seems to be around 10-15 minutes, or until the onion cools.

Therefore, in order to make a simple hot pack, place popcorn or rice into an old sock or small pouch.  Then seal end and heat in short bursts until warm.
